AllCampus Re-Card FAQ
FACULTY/STAFF
Why are we getting a new card?
The AllCampus office is working to put an upgraded card in place to enable the University to take advantage of new technologies, such as:
- Effective expiration dates. While the old card had an expiration date written on the front of the card, the new card will actually expire on the date printed.
- Door access technology. The new card is embedded with technology that will enable buildings, labs and other secured areas to implement door access via the card instead of key fobs.
Does the new card look different?
Slightly. The background is the same, but the photo block is bigger, bank numbers (if applicable) were moved to the back, and the red block S has been replaced with a hologram. The back of the card features an additional mag stripe to accommodate the WolfCopy program.
Do I need to get a new card right now?
All faculty and staff will be required to have a new card , therefore, we recommend you take advantage of one of the many opportunities to get a new card while we are in your area of campus. (Click here for the current schedule.)
I work at a remote location. How can I get a new card?
We are in the process of creating a web application where you can submit a photo and have the card mailed to you. Please check back soon; we'll have more information shortly.
Will I get a new photo?
Yes. The new card requires a close-up, current photo, so be prepared to be photographed when you arrive to receive your new card.
Do I need to bring my old ID card when I come to get my new one?
Yes. You will need to exchange it to receive the new one. You will need to turn in your old badge or key fob to your department security administrator if you have one. Your new ID card will be activated within 24 hours if your building uses secured door access.
If you are receiving your card for the first time or have lost your current card, please download and complete the proxy form and bring it with you when you come to receive your new card.
Can I go to the AllCampus Office for a new card?
Yes, beginning May 10, 2010.
My office is not on main or Centennial Campus, so these re-card locations are not convenient. What should I do?
We have additional locations we will visit during Phase II over the summer 2010. Please check the schedule often for more dates. If you'd like to be notified by email, please contact jennifer_gilmore@ncsu.edu to be added to our AllCampus notice distribution list.
I am an affiliate or contractor. Do I get a new card?
Existing affiliates and contractors will continue to use the old card at this time. Beginning May 10, 2010, contractors, affiliates, or their sponsors should complete an on-line form to enable the department for which they work to confirm their relationship. Once they have received confirmation, they can come to the AllCampus Office in the West Dunn building to receive their new card. Contractor cards will cost $20.00.
How are the expiration dates calculated and what happens when they expire?
We have staggered expirations for existing faculty and staff that fall within the 2015 calendar year to avoid having everyone's card expire at the same time. When your card expires, please make plans to visit the AllCampus office in the West Dunn Building to receive your new card.
If my card is lost or stolen, what should I do?
First, you can stop by any University Dining location or go online to www.ncsuallcampus.com to report your card lost or stolen. At your earliest convenience, visit the AllCampus office in the West Dunn Building to receive a new card. The replacement fee is $20.
What if my card stops working or the photo is faded?
They new card is designed to minimize fading. However, if your card suffers wear and tear or ceases to function properly, bring it to the AllCampus office in the West Dunn Building. We will replace it at no charge.
I have additional questions. Who should I contact?
